Border Express Distribution Facility

Project Snapshot

Project Overview

Skyfields delivered a 13,000sqm purpose-built distribution facility for Border Express, designed to support efficient, safe and scalable logistics operations.

Completed over a 10-month construction period, the facility was delivered within a tight timeframe to enable Border Express to transition from its previous premises without disruption to operations.

The building incorporates a high-clearance, clear-span warehouse with ESFR sprinkler system, supporting flexible use and future adaptability. Cross-docking capability, generous loading areas and integrated office space enhance day-to-day efficiency, while considered design elements prioritise safety and workflow optimisation.

“From the very beginning, it was clear this project was more than just a construction – it was about creating a space that would evolve with our needs, with a focus on safety in design and sustainable outcomes. This facility not only meets the demands of today but has the capacity to support our growth for years to come.”
– Ian Swann, Branch Manager, Border Express WA.

Sustainability was a key focus of the development, with the facility achieving a 4-Star Green Star Buildings v1.0 rating. Design initiatives include reduced operational energy use, lower embodied carbon through material selection, and improved indoor environmental quality through access to natural light and fresh air. The building has also been designed to accommodate future upgrades, including solar and HVAC systems.

The result is a high-performing industrial asset that supports Border Express’ current operations while allowing for long-term growth and operational flexibility.
